Following sold-out performances at the National Arts Festival, Hilton Festival, and The Cirk’s home venue in Cresta, the creators of this electrifying show are bringing an even BIGGER and BETTER version of URBAN CIRCUS to the stage.
At its vibrant core, URBAN CIRCUS is an acrobatic ode to city life. This spectacular production is a fusion of The Cirk’s technical expertise, a talented cast of performers, and a captivating storyline directed by Cirque du Soleil alumnus Daniel Buckland. Through acrobatics, acting, juggling, and flawless ensemble work, the show whisks the audience on a high-octane, pulse-pounding journey through a day in the city.
“The show is crafted from eleven vignettes, each centered around a character’s unique interaction with different aspects of the city,” says Director Daniel Buckland. “URBAN CIRCUS, expressed through the explosive language of circus life, tells a story of survival, struggle, and joy in the urban landscape. It’s an acrobatic dance through the exhilarations and perils of city living.”
Featuring an array of top-tier circus acts, including aerial hoop, trapeze, balancing chairs, and more, combined with dynamic ensemble performances, physical comedy, and vivid character portrayals, URBAN CIRCUS paints a vivid, fantastical picture of the chaotic dance for survival in the city. Imagine a daydream in traffic morphing into an aerial ballet, workers crammed into elevators becoming a playful tangle of limbs, and a performance review escalating into an intense acrobatic boxing match. A tipsy walk home turns into a wild, comedic dance of both brutal grace and delicate charm.
URBAN CIRCUS pulses with the energy and joy of urban life, revealing the hidden magic within the mundane. With every corner holding the promise of acrobatic wonder, the show merges the spectacle of the circus with the enchantment of theatre, powered by the extraordinary choral creativity of The Cirk team.
